Deheng Lawyers File Lawsuits against ConocoPhillips China and CNOOC at Maritime Courts in Qingdao and Tianjin

On July 9th lawyer Li Gang, Director of the Maritime and Environmental Practice and Partner of Deheng Law Firm filed a lawsuit against ConocoPhillips China and CNOOC at Qingdao Maritime Court. Representing seven fishermen, farming enterprises and one villagers’ committee of Shandong Province, he claimed 21 million Yuan for direct economic losses caused by the oil spill pollution of Penglai 19-3 oilfield in 2011.

On July 10th lawyer Zhang Xingkuan, partner of Beijing DHH Law Firm filed a lawsuit against ConocoPhillips China and CNOOC at Tianjin Maritime Court. He represented more than 120 fishermen from Tianjin to claim 20 million Yuan for losses caused by the above mentioned oil spill pollution.

Before the lawsuits were filed mediation requests by the fishermen from both Tianjin and Shandong Province had been declined by ConocoPhillips China and CNOOC.
